Interior Cleaning Tips

Summer is quickly coming to an end which means you and your family are going to be spending a lot more time indoors. This in-between time is the perfect opportunity to do a quick cleaning and organizational spree throughout your home so that you don't have to live in the mess from summer. Fall and winter are a time for relaxing with family, so getting your cleaning done now will also help you stay on track throughout the upcoming holiday seasons and relax in your freshly-cleaned home.

Throughout this blog, we’ll discuss some helpful tips and tricks to make this process a whole lot easier.

  1. Bathroom Vents

Keeping your vents clean not only makes your bathroom look cleaner, but it also can help the air quality within your home. A simple way to clean them is to remove the overlaying grate and scrub it with warm soapy water, and then vacuum out the ducts to remove any loose debris and dust.

  1. Toilet Brush

The toilet brush is one of the dirtiest items in your home, as we discussed in one of our previous blogs, but did you know there is a really simple way to disinfect them and keep them smelling clean? Just pour a little bit of Pine-Sol in the base and let it soak!

  1. Stove Burners

Are the burners on your stove covered in hardened food? One easy way to clean them is to soak them in an ammonia and water solution overnight and then scrub them clean in the morning. They’ll be good as new!

  1. Microwave

Microwaves are sometimes a difficult part of the kitchen to clean because you have to reach in and scrub all of the surfaces within. However, there is a simpler way to do it. Take a microwave safe bowl and fill it with a vinegar and water solution, then run the microwave and let the solution steam clean the microwave.

  1. Dryer

Make sure to check the hose that extends out of the back of your dryer for lint, not just the traps. While the traps are supposed to catch most of the lint that collects in your dryer, some of it gets past the trap and enters the dryer hose. Leaving lint in the dryer hose is a huge safety hazard and puts you at risk for starting a house fire.

  1. Screen Doors

Screen doors are often forgotten and neglected in the cleaning process. But a very simple way to keep your doors clean is to use a lint roller to remove debris, dust, and cobwebs.

  1. Doormats

Consider purchasing a second doormat for the entryway of your home. Place one of the mats outside of your home, and then one directly inside of the doorframe. This tip will give you double the opportunities to trap dirt from shoes before it enters your home!
